City FC FAQ
How can my child tryout for an academy team?
Your child must be a registered member of one of our affiliated clubs. As a member of a competitive club team, players will be invited to attend one of our Player iD Camps, where we select our academy team. For the 2014/15 season, we reserve the right to extend the invitation to players outside of our affiliate clubs, in certain age groups, as we grow our player no's.
How can a player play for two teams?
Player Registration - The players with City FC academy teams will be registered with US Club Soccer and North Texas State Soccer (US Youth Soccer) via their regular affiliate club team.
Will the two teams schedules overlap?
Training - City FC players will train once a week in addition to club practices. Tournaments and games for City FC will be scheduled outside of the North Texas Select soccer season. Players will have a commitment to the City FC academy team if chosen for the squad.
Who will be coaching?
Coaches - City FC will be appointing staff to our teams from the pool of qualified coaches in the affiliate clubs.
City FC wants to create a fair opportunity for all players to make an NPL team or development reserve team. To fulfill this, affiliate clubs will forward coaches of acceptable qualifications and experience to head-coach a team. In our first year, there may be a team in an age group that isn’t represented in the other affiliates. Should this situation arise, it would be sensible for the current coach to continue with that team into NPL league play. City FC benefits from some of the best highly regarded coaches in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Is there a cost?
Academy Fees - There will be a fee to participate on an academy team.
Our affiliate clubs do subsidize some of the the cost to play on an academy team, with the player having a nominal amount to be responsible for.
The cost per player will be between $300-$375, excluding uniforms.
Why is City FC name not adopted by the affiliate clubs?
City FC Structure - The reason to structure the elite level of the club was to provide those players that wished to stay associated with their current coach & team the ability to represent their club AND have the opportunity to play at a higher academy team level with City FC.
Each affiliate club is still operated independently of each other, but have an affiliated membership to City FC.
This gives the affiliated clubs better player and parent support in their respective territories.
City FC Elite Player iD Camps (Used for the try out process) would then be offered to all players within the affiliate clubs for access to a larger talent pool.
Can a team join City FC?
Event Time Format - Yes, we are still looking to grow our affiliate club base. Any coach/team interested in becoming part of City FC should contact their area affiliate club representative.
